Qualifications

We are currently seeking a Texas Transportation State Leader for a pivotal role.

RS&H is a proactive and employee-owned firm, growing the Texas transportation market to advance our growth plans, we need a proven leader with an established presence in Texas with the drive and ability to lead this effort. This is an opportunity to build on the portfolio of our current work and expand into greater market penetration. The successful candidate can anticipate being a Vice President in the firm, pending Board approval. The ideal candidate would sit in either Austin or San Antonio, but we will consider candidates in Dallas or Houston as well.

The Texas Transportation State Leader is a pivotal role that will provide leadership and direction to the current Texas transportation infrastructure team; coordinate with our national resources; recruit and mentor added resources, including opportunistic hires; and work directly with RS&H’s senior leadership to deploy RS&H’s strategic initiative for Texas.

The State Leader will manage Area and Discipline Leaders and their direct reports. Candidates must demonstrate the ability to oversee all aspects of contracts and contract terms including the successful delivery of projects, quality assurances, and financial performance. In addition, the State Leader will be a key member of the Central Region Leadership team and will be integral in setting and responsible for achieving our 3-yr, 1-yr, and quarterly financial, sales, and resource goals. The State Leader role can be successfully executed from any of our established offices in Austin, San Antonio, Houston, or Dallas.

The State Leader will have a proven record of success with TxDOT and Texas municipalities, including a history of selection as Project Manager and a record of effective delivery of S&E and PS&E projects as Project Manager. The ability to connect with and sustain professional relationships with team members, clients, and partners is essential. The State Leader will perform, with their team, diverse and complex work tasks requiring technical, communication, and management ability. The successful candidate may also serve in an executive leadership role, providing oversight and management of contracts, coordinating directly with client leadership, and offering senior-level guidance.

Qualifications:

  • ABET-accredited bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from an accredited university.
  • Professional registration (PE) in Texas.Minimum 15 years of progressive leadership experience within the transportation field (Alternative Project Delivery (APD)/civil engineering/roadway/structures/traffic engineering studies) for the public sector.
  • Knowledge of and extensive project management experience working directly with TxDOT/RMAs/MPOs and/or other Texas transportation agencies.
  • Project Management experience working on complex transportation projects and administering contracts.
  • Strong supervisory skills and record of leading multiple/multi-discipline teams.
  • Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail along with overall quality control and management.
  • Established client relationships/marketing and business development experience.
  • Evidence of profitable fiscal management of projects and organizational units.
  • Foster partnerships and relationships with other consulting firms to assist with business development, building client relationships, and pursuit efforts for projects;
  • Ability to win TxDOT PS&E contracts as the Prime provider Project Manager.

Goals and Objectives:

  • Lead the Texas Transportation team in continued financial performance including net service revenue and revenue growth, backlog balancing through utilization and workshare, budgets and budget forecasts, and profit.
  • Grow and lead high-performance teams in areas of continuing a culture of excellence, industry leadership, and innovative thinking; finding and vetting new talent who add value to project teams; overseeing technical training, mentoring, and learning.
  • Help client managers in business development to provide growth and sustained backlog, including management of client relationships for loyalty, long-term engagement, and lifetime retention.
  • Responsible for project performance and execution to include oversight of Project Managers through mentorship and project leadership.
  • Champion compliance to corporate standards and best practices.
  • Work collaboratively with senior leadership to develop statewide goals, growth plans, and implement strategic initiatives.
