Job Summary/Basic Function:
Oversees and performs work covering all phases of daily custodial work, ensuring that facilities are sanitized and/or maintained in accordance with all applicable codes and safety regulations and are representative of a leading art and design institution. Responsible for the organization of day-to-day work and direct supervision of the custodial staff. Actively fosters a team setting, with keen attention to customer and employee needs, as well as customer service. Prepares schedules, assigns work, and provides training. Coordinates and interacts with external suppliers to obtain and review service offerings and prices and make recommendations to management. Serves as backup on all custodial-related issues during the absence of the Custodial Manager.

Essential Functions:

  • Hire, train, supervise, and ensure continued development of custodial staff to ensure compliance with departmental policies and procedures.
  • Coordinate and contact suppliers for services and goods, such as trash removal, carpet cleaning, and window washing.
  • Responsible for the effective inventory processes, maintenance, and distribution of equipment and materials used by custodians.
  • Serve as initial point of contact in emergency situations.
  • Complete and maintain electronic records, logs, and forms.




Minimum Qualifications:
  • Valid Drivers License with a safe driving record
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 1-3 Years supervisory experience


Preferred Qualifications:
  • 3-5 Years supervisory experience
  • Ability to navigate Microsoft Suite and Google Suite

When determining and establishing hiring rates or recruitment ranges for a position, the College considers a number of factors including the budget for the position, the range of the grade, the external market for the position or similar positions, level and scope of responsibilities, required education, skills and relevant experience as well as internal equity. All salary offers must have the prior approval of the Office of Human Resources.

The starting hourly rate for this position is $22/hr.
