Job Summary

Elevate your career in public health working as a Student Worker in a position designed to provide support to the Creative Services Department of the Executive Office of the Minnesota Department of Health (MDH). This position may assist with graphic design, videography, and social media.

Working as a Student Worker Paraprofessional you will:
  • Upload content to YouTube.
  • Fulfill stock photography requests.
  • Assist with translation edits to existing documents.
  • Record and transcribe Teams meetings.
  • Assist with photography sessions by collecting permission forms and set up/tear down of photography equipment.

This during of this position is six (6) months with possibility of an extension.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

C ompletion of one year of post-secondary education with interest in graphic design, video production, photography & social media coordination, plus the following experience:
  • One (1) year of experience using software such as Adobe Suite (InDesign, illustrator, Photoshop)
  • One (1) year of video editing experience using software program such as Adobe Premier.

Additional information about Student Workers at MDH: To be eligible for appointment as a Student Worker Para Professional you must be enrolled in a post-secondary or graduate educational program or plan to enroll within three months. Students may be "off" for the summer or for one semester/quarter and remain employed as a student worker, but such absences cannot exceed one semester/quarter in a year. If you are enrolled at a credit-granting institution, you must carry at least six semester/nine quarter credits. If enrolled at a non-credit granting institution or one that only offers one credit per class, you must be taking two or more classes per semester/quarter. Any lesser credit (class) load will be treated as a semester/quarter off. Graduate students must be enrolled in at least two courses or making progress on a dissertation. You will be asked to complete an Educational Verification form prior to appointment.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Educational background in graphic design, video production, photography & social media coordination.
  • Customer service skills sufficient to provide prompt, courteous and accurate information to a variety of customers over the phone, in person and via email.
  • Knowledge of communications sufficient to write, prepare, and edit materials using correct spelling, punctuation, grammar, and sentence construction.
  • Ability to upload content to sites such as YouTube.
  • Experience with video editing, graphic design, and photography.
  • Experience using computer software such as Microsoft Office Suite.

Physical Requirements
  • Ability to move and or transport items weighing up to 20 pounds on a regular basis.
