Overview
As a Sample Management Technician in a combination role, you work with sample packages for the laboratories and support laboratory operations in the Analytical Services Department. This role may also interact with clients and regulatory agencies as part of audits.
This role will be a blended position with an approximate 75:25 mix of sample management responsibilities and laboratory support activities. Laboratory support includes glassware management, standard inventory and 6S, and may support routine laboratory tasks such as balance calibration and cleaning/maintaining of incubators and chambers.
Responsibilities
- Maintain custody of Received Sample Packages so that they are securely stored prior to the samples being logged in
- Unpack and inspect received Sample Packages
- Safely handle potentially hazardous and/or biologic material
- Review all Submitted Sample Paperwork (SSP) for accuracy and completeness.
- Download data from temperature monitoring devices and provide these data to the client/shipper, when appropriate
- Complete and return receipt acknowledgement of samples, when appropriate
- Store samples at indicated environmental temperatures
- Maintain and archive of the Submitted Sample Paperwork (SSP)
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of Sample Storage Areas
- Compile sample-specific documentation to accompany samples being shipped
- Communicate with analytical team members about samples and standard management
- Assist in reagent inventory and interact with vendors/place orders
- Wash glassware and manage glassware inventory
- As needed, maintain glassware washing equipment and collaborate with other departments to perform checks and qualifications
- Support sample shipment preparation and aliquoting of materials in GMP
- Support cleaning and maintenance in accordance with 6S principles.
- Cleaning of incubators and chambers requiring Biosafety Level 2 training
Qualifications
- Associates or Bachelor's degree or equivalent and relevant formal academic / vocational qualification
- Previous related laboratory experience that provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the job. Prefer 2+ years related experience in a GMP facility.
