The Library Technician is responsible for overseeing library circulation duties for all library materials; checks books and other materials in and out, maintains the reserve collections, prepares library notices, bills and places academic holds. The position provides technical oversight and maintains the circulation, reserve, and scheduling modules of the library services platform (Ex Libris ALMA), identifies system errors or problems and will work with appropriate areas to resolve difficulties. They will handle issues concerning library users' inquiries and disputes concerning fines, fees, and overdue materials. Other duties include providing direction to library student assistants, overseeing the shelving of books and materials, and receiving and responding to requests and questions from faculty, staff and students. This position works under limited direct supervision so the candidate should have excellent organizational skills and a thorough working knowledge of Library Service Platforms. The work schedule is Monday through Thursday, 7:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Over the summer the schedule changes to Monday through Thursday, 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. with Friday off.
