Job Description and Duties

Under the Staff Services Manager I, Division of Medi-Cal Fraud and Elder Abuse, the Field Representative will be responsible for preparing, updating, and distributing training materials for statewide outreach that are used by long-term care facilities to train employees, will provide advice and assistance to other government agencies and the legislature will conduct liaison and outreach to governmental and non-governmental organizations to inform, educate, promote referrals, and improve compliance with mandatory reporting of elder abuse, and will evaluate legislation that affects elder abuse.

The Field Representative will also provide training, guidance, and assistance to the Office of Long-Term Care Ombudsman, Department of Public Health, Department of Health Care Services, and Department of Social Services concerning mandatory reporting of elder abuse and the investigation and prosecution of elder neglect and other abuse. The Field Representative will conduct presentations and training to community groups, health care providers, emergency responders, advocacy organizations, District Attorneys, law enforcement, partner agencies, Adult Protective Services, and other government agencies and non-governmental organizations.

The Field Representative will evaluate current and proposed Federal, State, and DMFEA, sponsored legislation, report the impact upon elder abuse operations, and make recommendations to management

Working Conditions

  • Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with client agencies located throughout the state.
  • Ability to independently perform field liaison work to determine audit compliance within various agency types.
  • Ability to facilitate training and working sessions using multiple delivery methods, including webinars, conference calls, and recorded media.
  • Excellent organizational skills to ensure audit findings are issued in a timely manner.
  • Diplomacy in working with agencies to address compliance issues and work towards a resolution.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint software as well as different types of case management systems/programs.
