Program Summary: The Therapeutic Recreation Lead Staff is responsible for providing services to participants with intellectual/developmental disabilities in a variety of therapeutic recreational activities in a group setting within the community. This position is responsible for providing leadership to the therapeutic recreation programs, support staff and participants both on and off site. Lead Staff will provide a safe, structured environment to build friendships, encourage physical and social activity, become involved members of the community and embrace health and wellness. This will include, but not limited to implementation of activities and curriculum that the Coordinator has planned for After School, Summer, Release Days, Venture Forward, Adventure Night Out, and Destination Anywhere. The Lead Staff will ensure participant(s) safety in the group setting and/or community, communication and emotional regulation and personal cares are met. Lead Staff may provide services for one to three participants during a scheduled shift. Hours may vary throughout year dependent on program and client enrollment. The Lead Staff is supervised by the Therapeutic Recreation Program Coordinator. Reasonable accommodations may be requested to enable individuals with disabilities. Position Overview: Our Therapeutic Recreation Destination Anywhere Program provides person-centered, community-based programming that focuses on modeling, teaching, and promoting positive peer relationships, overall wellbeing, and community involvement. Lead Staff are responsible for up to 3 clients at a time. Responsibilities include:
Through therapeutic recreation we work on the enhancement of physical, cognitive, social, and affective development of every individual through personalized Therapeutic Recreation goals. We work alongside the participant, their family and team to empower and transform the person's life through a structured group environment, providing skills to build friendships, participate in group activities, become an active member of the community, and embrace health and wellness. Pay: $16.38 - $18.90 DOQ Job Qualifications: Qualifications You might be an ideal candidate if you meet the following qualifications:
Demonstrate good organization skills and problem solving skills. Ability to work autonomously at a remote setting without direct access to a supervisor. Must have the ability to provide leadership, guidance and oversight to support staff. Preferred: No experience with people with disabilities is required; however, a desire to work with people and a willingness to learn is essential. Experience with individuals with disabilities highly desired. One year of supervisory experience preferred.
