Our core program offerings include MY Denver, Community Recreation, Fitness, Aquatics, Youth Sports, Citywide Adult Sports, Active Older Adult, Adaptive Recreation, and much more.

Carla Madison Recreation Center and Central Park Recreation Center are looking to hire Gym Attendants to be a part of their team. The key responsibilities of Gym Attendants include:
  • Creating and maintaining a safe and enjoyable environment within the gymnasium and fitness areas serving as a liaison between the facility and users
  • Promoting safety and enthusiasm for the use of the Recreation Center by exhibiting superior customer service skills
  • Inspecting gymnasium and fitness area equipment; ensuring proper documentation, reporting and follow through with necessary repairs or maintenance
  • Teach, instruct and/or facilitate after school programs such as, but not limited to: 3-on-3 basketball, climbing, dance, gym games
  • Set up and break down small to large equipment for programs and games
  • Assists in the organization and administration of special events or programs in the gymnasium and fitness areas
  • Ensures fair and equitable use of gymnasium and fitness centers for all participants and recreation center users
  • Other related duties as assigned


About You

We are looking for candidates with a passion and interest in recreation and fitness. Our ideal candidate will possess superior customer service skills and an inclination towards ensuring safety. Additionally, our ideal candidate will possess all or a combination of the following:

  • Experience ensuring efficient and safe operations within a recreation or fitness center
  • Experience demonstrating and facilitating proper use of light to heavy fitness/gym equipment
  • Experience instructing after school programs or games
  • Current possession of a CPR/First Aid Certification

  • Education: Graduation from high school or the possession of a GED, HiSET or TASC Certificate.
  • Experience: One (1) year of experience in assisting in the operation and instruction of organized recreation activities.
  • Licensure(s)/Certifications: Requires certification in CPR/First Aid within 6 months of hire.
  • Equivalency: Additional appropriate education may be substituted for the minimum experience requirements. Licenses and certifications must be kept current as a condition of employment.
