Park and Recreation

The Park and Recreation Department provides a variety of recreational sport programs and facilities year-round for Fort Worth residents of all ages which help relieve stress, enhance physical conditioning and enhance quality of life. Managing five tournament-level golf courses and over 60 high-level competition sports fields, the Golf and Athletics division has been perennially recognized as one of the best in the country for its programs and services.

We are recruiting for a dedicated and dependable full-time Fleet Mechanic I with benefits for Meadowbrook Golf Course.

Weekends, holidays and emergency call back hours may be required.

  • Maintains, inspects, repairs and replaces worn or broken equipment and vehicle parts. Performs regular preventative maintenance tasks and diagnostic tests as appropriate.
  • Performs repair work on engine systems; performs work on hydraulic systems, alternators, starters, motors, and transmissions. Works on air conditioning, heating, and electrical systems.
  • Regularly inspects all equipment, including hand tools, mowing equipment, golf carts and utility vehicles. Provides lists of parts with part numbers to Field Operation Supervisor needed to maintain golf course equipment.
  • Completes assigned golf course maintenance and repair duties. Performs required maintenance and mechanical repairs for tee mowers, greens mowers, fairway aerators and sod cutters. Maintains golf carts and other related golf course equipment. Assists in mowing greens, sodding, fertilizing and related tasks.
  • Regularly seeks input from operators as to condition and performance of mowing equipment.
  • Performs maintenance tasks on equipment and vehicles. Lubricates vehicle parts and changes motor vehicle oil. Inspects and adjusts fluid levels of batteries, transmissions and fuel tanks. Adjusts and replaces fan belts, water hoses, batteries and cables. Inspects condition of tires, lights, horns and other safety related devices.
  • Completes paperwork necessary for recording all repairs and service history of vehicles.
  • Test-drives and delivers vehicles as necessary.

Other Requirements:

High school diploma/GED and no previous experience required.


Valid Texas driver's license.

Valid Texas Class "A" or "B" operator's license, if applicable.


Preference will be given to applicant who possesses past experience in operating tractors, zero turn mowers and front-end loaders.

Working Conditions:

Indoor and outdoor environments; exposure to extremes in weather conditions; exposure to vibrations, and noise; work on slippery or uneven surfaces, work with electrical energy; work with and around heavy machinery, in or near vehicle traffic; exposure to dust and fumes from motorized equipment; possible exposure to toxic chemicals.

Physical Conditions:

Essential and marginal functions may require maintaining physical condition necessary for sitting, standing, or walking for extended periods of time; moderate and heavy lifting and carrying, pulling, reaching, bending, climbing, and kneeling; use of fingers, both hands, and both legs required; must be able to distinguish colors; must be able to operate assigned vehicle.
