Full time; Cooper Fitness Center. The Program Manager is responsible for supervising in the daily management, financial goals, and assist in the business development for the Cooper Fitness Centers sport-specific, internship, and Cooperized Kidz departments. This individual will ensure that quality active-based programming and childcare for patrons of the Cooper Fitness Center and Spa; this involves creating a safe, healthy, caring, productive, enjoyable and educational environment for the participants. This position is the direct supervisor of all Sport Professionals and Cooperized Kidz Instructors. This individual will oversee the Cooper Fitness Center Internship program.

Hours: M - F 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. with possibility of weekend programs

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Provide daily leadership, direction, and support to all Sport Professionals and Cooperized Kidz teammates
  • Assist in the development of short-term and long-term strategic planning of the specific departments
  • Provide financial updates weekly (including budget goals and payroll)
  • Conduct weekly (interns) and monthly (Sport Pros and Cooperized Kidz) update meetings to ensure progress and success
  • Oversees hiring, training, facilities, and program registrations/inquiries
  • Coordinate marketing for programming
  • Maintain a safe, clean environment and equipment
  • Equipment inventory and purchasing
  • Plan and provide age appropriate active based programs
  • Handle and document any behavioral issues of participants and/or teammates
  • Greet and update participants regularly
  • Recruit, hire, train, schedule, and mentor 2-3 interns (Spring, Summer, and Fall semesters)
  • Maintain the Cooperized Kidz reservation chart, as needed
  • Fill in for shifts as needed
  • Collect payment from all patrons
  • Provide tracking of department utilization
  • Promote physical, emotional, intellectual and social growth through active based curriculum
  • Maintain stated ratios in specific programs/departments
  • Communicate with Assistant General Manager daily
  • Provide exceptional customer service to all patrons (internal and external)
  • Be a team player and perform additional duties as needed
  • Attend departmental and company-wide meetings
  • Fill in for other program functions when necessary
  • Perform any other duties and responsibilities that may be required
  • Uphold the COOPER CARES mission statement and attributes

  • College degree in Corporate Wellness, Kinesiology, Education, Business or related field required
  • Experience in camps/programming/childcare
  • Must have experience in customer service
  • CPR, First Aid, and AED certifications (must be obtained within 60 days of hire)
  • Must be highly motivated
  • Must have excellent communication (written and verbal), organizational, customer service and interpersonal skills
  • Must have excellent management and leadership skills
  • Must be a self-directed and detail-oriented individual that works well independently and on a team
  • Proficiency with industry standard word processing, spreadsheet, database, and presentation applications
  • Must have a professional, enthusiastic, and caring attitude
  • Must have previous experience working with youth
  • Must physically be able to participate in all duties required: lift 50 lbs., stand, squat, sit, and play
