Candidate must have a High School diploma or GED, and four (4) years experience in the maintenance, construction or repair of water distribution systems, with two (2) years in a lead capacity.
Licenses and Certificates: Class "C" Water Operators License issued by the State of Texas required within one (1) year of appointment. Texas Class "C" Drivers License or equivalent from another state.
Under general supervision, supervise and coordinate work activities of crews engaged in the heavy construction, maintenance and repair of water lines and services.
Plan, coordinate and schedule water line construction, installation, repair, replacement and maintenance. Involves: Schedule, prioritize and assign daily work orders to crews. Inspect job sites for compliance to health and safety and transportation rules and regulations. Ensure safe, efficient work methods and practices. Make changes to work orders to resolve problems. Recommend alternative solutions. Direct crews to make emergency repairs. Request utility line spots and maintain updated information on utility lines. Coordinate scheduled repairs with other utilities, contractors, City and state Inspectors, customers and any entity that is essential to completion of each assignment or project.
Complete assigned administrative duties. Involves: Review and complete work orders, invoices, memos, paving cut requests, purchase and rental tickets. Review accident and incident reports. Track fire hydrant, weekly and monthly production reports. Review and approve materials request forms. Requisition materials and supplies as needed from warehouse or vendors. Request and schedule heavy equipment. Coordinate vehicle maintenance schedules. File paper work and records. Investigate and resolve complaints and inquiries.
Supervise assigned staff. Involves: Schedule, assign and review operational and procedural activities. Prioritize and coordinate work crew activities. Instruct, guide and check work. Appraise employee performance and review evaluations by subordinates. Provide training and development. Enforce personnel rules, regulations, and work standards. Counsel, motivate and maintain harmony. Interview applicants. Recommend hiring, termination, transfers, discipline, merit pay or other employee status changes.

Salary Range: $16.60 - 24.05 per hour.
The starting salary is generally at the beginning of the salary range.
