Directs the daily procurement, warehousing and supply information control system for large County hospitals or for large subdepartments of large hospitals.
Essential Job Functions
Supervises a procurement and warehousing staff responsible for the daily requisitioning, receiving, storing, issuing and accounting of service unit supplies.
Supervises the data control section of the service unit which enters information concerning purchases, receipts, disbursements, deliveries, and warehousing activity into the central inventory control system and controls output received from the system.
Evaluates the unit's use of pre-established procurement vehicles to ensure conformance with purchasing policy.
Consults with central materials management staff and other Service Unit Materials Managers to determine if the service unit's inventory meets appropriate warehousing and commodity standards and that inventories are shared among other service units.
Supervises a staff responsible for determining service unit inventory levels, usage trends, maintenance of reorder levels and delivery performance to users.
Responsible for device and supply recalls. Oversee discrepancy/problem resolution.
Routinely meets with unit supervisors to evaluate compliance with departmental safety procedures and practices; maintains liaison with departmental safety and training officers to remain abreast of departmental issues and training opportunities.
Monitors budget to ensure expenditures do not exceed approved levels.
Prepares the service unit supplies budget based on automated usage analysis reports and user requests.
Three (3) years experience directing the daily procurement, warehousing, and delivery of supplies for an organization using a variety of supplies.
Two (2) years experience with direct responsibility for supply and related functions at the level of Supply Officer I*.
One year at the level of Service Unit Materials Manager I**.
A valid California Class C Driver License or the ability to utilize an alternative method of transportation when needed to carry out job-related essential functions.
Physical Class II - Light :
Light physical effort which may include occasional light lifting to a 10 point limit, and some bending, stooping or squatting. Considerable walking may be involved.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENT INFORMATION:
*Experience at the level of Supply Officer I is defined as:
Has comprehensive responsibility for supply and related functions in a large department.
**Experience at the level of Service Unit Materials Manager I is defined as:
Directs the daily procurement, warehousing and supply information control system for a small hospital or for a subdepartment of a large hospital. A small hospital is 95 to 199 licensed beds. A large hospital is 300 or more licensed beds.
Credit will be given to applicants who possess the following desirable qualifications:
This examination will consist of an evaluation based upon application information weighted 100%.
Candidates must achieve a passing score of 70% or above on the examination in order to be added to the eligible register.
Applications will be processed on an "as-received" basis and those receiving a passing score will be promulgated to the eligible register accordingly.
The names of candidates receiving a passing score in the examination will be added to the eligible register in the order of their score group for a period of twelve (12) months following the date of promulgation.
NO PERSON MAY COMPETE IN THIS EXAMINATION MORE THAN ONCE EVERY TWELVE (12) MONTHS.
Appointees may be required to work any shift including evenings, nights, weekends and holidays.
