SDOT Street Use division is looking for a long term temporary Senior Civil Engineer to work on Major Permit Projects.

Job Responsibilities

Position duties includes
  • Serve as SDOT Street Use Major Permit Project Manager, track and oversee the development of major utility projects through the SDOT permitting system, managing scope, schedule, and budget as necessary for successful delivery
  • Serve as SDOT Project Engineer or Civil Designer, in the preparation and development of utility projects that require SDOT permitting
  • Serve as a liaison between specific utility agencies and SDOT in the coordination and development of projects that require SDOT permitting
  • Assist with scheduling and facilitating of design guidance meetings and pre-construction meetings
  • Work with SDOT staff on developing and revising both technical and business related policies or processes that may streamline the permitting process
  • Support department goals in promoting diversity and social justice


Qualifications

Required Qualifications :
  • Requires five years professional civil engineering experience and a Bachelor Degree in Civil Engineering or Civil Engineering Technology; (or a combination of education and/or training and/or experience, which provides an equivalent background required to perform the work of the class).
  • Registered PE in the State of Washington.
  • Ability to effectively work in a multi-cultural workplace with a diverse customer base.

Other combinations of education, training, and/or experience that provide an equivalent background required to perform the work of the class may be evaluated on an individual basis for comparability.

Required Certifications/Licenses :
  • Current Washington State driver's license or evidence of equivalent mobility.
Desired Qualifications :
  • Experience managing the delivery of large and complex capital projects.
  • Experience working on projects located within combined sewer systems.
  • Experience working with multi agency permitting and plan review processes.
  • Master's Degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent.
  • Multilingual ability a plus

Work Environment/Physical Demands :
  • May require the ability to stand, walk, or bend for extended periods of time; occasionally requires handling or working with toxic/hazardous substances and lifting objects over 50lbs;
  • Current Washington State driver's license or evidence of equivalent mobility;
