Job Summary
The General Maintenance Worker performs housekeeping tasks and minor equipment repairs in all buildings of the Minnesota Sex Offender Program - Moose Lake campus. In this role, the General Maintenance Worker demonstrates a responsiveness to facility needs, supporting a safe and secure facility in which clients receive quality professional services in a therapeutic environment that is safe for staff, visitors and clients.

Primary Responsibilities Include:
  • Performing housekeeping, sanitation and general maintenance work while providing supervision, direction and assistance to client worker(s), so that a safe, sanitary and aesthetically sound environment is maintained
  • Providing supervision, direction and assistance to client workers so that clients receive planned, coordinated, and comprehensive treatment
  • Maintaining and performing minor repairs on tools and equipment so equipment is kept serviceable and in good working order

Minimum Qualifications:
Resume must reflect each of the following qualifications listed below:

Knowledge of:
  • Different types of flooring/floor covering sufficient to determine proper methods of maintenance and appropriate cleaning methods, materials, agents and equipment
  • Chemical cleaning agents such as ammonia, bleaches, scouring agents and soaps sufficient to appropriately select the agent(s), handle and apply, and dispose of safely
  • Methods, tools, and equipment used in maintenance sufficient to use effectively and operate safely and to make minor repairs

Ability to:
  • Follow simple oral and written instructions, read and understand operational manuals, and keep simple records
  • Perform assigned tasks with limited work direction
  • Operate simple maintenance equipment
  • Stand, walk, climb ladders, bend, lift 50 pounds, carry, push, pull and handle items when performing duties
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience performing housekeeping or janitorial work within a large complex
