Sierra Donor Services (SDS) is looking for a dynamic and enthusiastic team member to join us to save lives!! Our mission at SDS is to save lives through organ and tissue donation and we want professionals on our team that will embrace this important work!! We are currently searching for a Manager of Performance Improvement who will be responsible for leading the identification, development and implementation of performance improvement strategies and initiatives. The Manager of Performance Improvement will serve as a change agent, championing agile ways of thinking and working with teams and individuals to enable greater success.

Sierra Donor Services is a designated organ procurement organization (OPO) within the state of Sacramento – and is a member of the DCI Donor Services family.

For over four decades, DCI Donor Services has been a leader in working to end the transplant waiting list. Our unique approach to service allows for nationwide donation, transplantation, and distribution of organs and tissues while maintaining close ties to our local communities.

DCI Donor Services operates three organ procurement/tissue recovery organizations: New Mexico Donor Services, Sierra Donor Services, and Tennessee Donor Services. We also maximize the gift of life through the DCI Donor Services Tissue Bank and Tennessee Donor Services Eye Bank.

Key responsibilities this position will perform include:

  1. Collaborates with leadership on the development, prioritization and implementation of performance improvement strategies that support objectives of increasing organ and tissue donation.
  2. Manages and supports the PI team members. Serves as a resource and partners with staff to provide opportunities for growth and development.
  3. Gives timely feedback and ensures adherence to standard operating policies and procedures. Completes employee performance coaching as appropriate.

  1. Leads the PI team and the organization in utilizing targeted process improvement tools and methodologies including Process Mapping, Root Cause Analysis, Lean, Six Sigma and Plan, Do, Study, Act (PDSA) to deliver measurable impact on organizational goals.

  1. Works collaboratively with the Business Intelligence team to utilize data and reporting to support strategic initiatives and organizational change.

  1. Partners with the Quality department to identify opportunities for improvement through the Quality and Process Improvement (QAPI) program. Actively monitors the OPO industry to identify emerging trends and capabilities that could provide value to strategic initiatives.

  1. Partners with cross functional departments to understand business needs, propose solutions and drive progress on strategic goals and process improvement projects.

  1. Creates a culture of continuous improvement through education on data driven tools, performance improvement methodologies, goal setting and KPI tracking.

  1. Acts as a resource and engages DCIDS staff on developing and managing projects in their departments. Identifies and helps find solutions for challenges to project completion.

  1. Facilitates project planning to include documenting requests and requirements, scheduling meetings to involve appropriate business partners, and providing follow-up communication.

  1. Performs other duties as assigned.


The ideal candidate will have:

  • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred

  • Prior experience supervising employees preferred. Previous healthcare experience preferred.

  • 5 years of experience leading Process Improvement Initiatives
  • Must demonstrate expertise in leading organizational process improvement initiatives with favorable outcomes. Skilled data analysis.
  • Certification in Quality Management and/or Process Improvement methods (e.g. LEAN, Six-Sigma, ASQ, etc.)
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, Visio, PowerPoint, PBI, etc.)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.
