The schedule includes evening and weekend hours and participation in a system-wide Saturday rotation. The initial schedule will be: Monday 8:30 - 5 Tuesday 10:30 - 7 Wednesday 8:30 - 5 Thursday 10:30 - 7 Friday (or off for Saturday) 8:30 - 5 Every third Saturday 8:30 - 5 (Saturday Rotation #2) Job Code: L412 Sequence #: 724 Union Affiliation: CPLSA, MSLA, Local 4928 Description: Location: Main Library, Youth Services Reports to: Manager of Youth Services ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Deliver outstanding library services in a diverse community to patrons of all ages, especially youth (ages 0-18) and their caregivers. Assigned focus on serving the preteen and adolescent population transitioning between the Children’s Room and Teen Room spaces, services and collections and collaborating with the Teen Librarian on teen services. Perform professional reference, readers’ advisory, collection development, programming, and outreach activities.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Education and Experience: Master's degree from an ALA-accredited MLS program and experience working with youth, families, and diverse populations is required. In exceptional instances, specialized education, training and/or experience may be substituted for part or all of the required elements. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS: Experience working in public libraries or other community settings is highly desirable. Professional librarian experience and fluency in a language in addition to English are desirable.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: Work in assigned area, including office areas, training rooms, library locations, as needed. Normal office exposure to noise, stress and interruptions.
