Security Officer US-NY-New York Job ID: 2024-13260 Type: Public Safety (WS2053) # of Openings: 1 Category: Campus/Auxilary/Transportation, Facilities, Public Safety New York University Overview The position of Campus Safety Officer supports the mission of the Department of Campus Safety to foster and maintain a safe and secure environment for its students, faculty, staff, and visitors. Campus Safety Officers will be required to execute a number of comprehensive and integrated security measures and countermeasures and must be able to adapt physically and psychologically to the changing needs and priorities of the Department of Campus Safety and the University. Responsibilities Required Education:
Ability to understand and follow safety procedures. Ability to detect problems and report information to appropriate personnel. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. Ability to gather data, compile information, and prepare reports. Security Officers must possess and maintain New York State security guard licensure throughout the course of their employment, including participation in, and successful completion of, any legally mandated training, including but not limited to on-the- job training and/or annual in-service requirements. Working Conditions: Security Officers may be exposed to the attendant discomfort or elements of serving outdoors for prolonged periods of time in inclement weather conditions, including walking or standing for extended periods while on duty, climbing and descending stairs, and foot patrolling. Physical Requirements: Applicants must be in good health and must have and retain physical strength, including the ability to lift items up to 50 lbs., physical stamina, and agility, visual and auditory acuity to perform the essential responsibilities of his position. Applicants must be able to operate departmental equipment, including radios, use hands repetitively, and have the ability to listen and communicate calmly, effectively, and courteously in both emergency and non-emergency situations. Must be able to pass background screening, drug testing, and employment physical. Qualifications In compliance with NYC's Pay Transparency Act, the hourly rate for this position is USD $27.188. This rate is based on bargaining unit contracts. This pay range represents base pay only and excludes any additional items such as incentives, bonuses, clinical compensation, or other items.
