The City of Fort Worth is hiring a Master Plumber for the Park & Recreation Department, Planning and Resource Management Division, Trades Maintenance and Infrastructure Repair Section.

The Trades Maintenance & Infrastructure Repair Section provides maintenance services for a Citywide inventory of 281 parks. Approximately 185 of those sites have plumbing infrastructure including baseball fields, soccer fields, drinking fountains, pools, splash pad and irrigation systems. This position will also play a key role in the set up and maintenance of plumbing infrastructure for the City's annual Mayfest event held in Trinity Park and performing double-check or backflow valve inspections in parks and for other City facilities, i.e. police and fire stations and libraries.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities :

The selected candidate will lead craft personnel and perform skilled work related to the trade of plumbing. They will conduct complex technical and skilled tasks related to assigned projects; provide technical guidance to lower level skilled and maintenance workers; assist in training lower level staff on proper techniques and procedures within assigned trades area; monitor and coordinate work of lower level staff. The position will assist supervisory staff with planning projects, scheduling and maintenance activities; will recommend appropriate resources to use for projects and activities and identify resource needs; maintain equipment and supplies used for trades work and perform preventative maintenance on tools, supplies and equipment.

Additional duties include: knowledge of current City plumbing code and requirements; review of drawings, diagrams, specifications and work orders; create and update drawings, diagrams and specifications; maintain repair and maintenance logs for equipment and facilities; record work orders when projects and maintenance activities are completed; contact vendors to assess availability of supplies, parts and equipment; work with contractors to complete projects and assignments and identify work to be completed for contractors; identify construction, maintenance and repair needs for facilities and equipment assigned and perform work as appropriate.

The position will adhere to assigned work schedule as outlined in the Department and City attendance policies and procedures; ensure all behaviors comply with the City's Personnel Rules and Regulations.

MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS:

High School Diploma/GED supplemented by specialized training in assigned trade and four years of related skilled trades experience, including one year of lead supervisory experience.

Valid Texas Driver's License.

Current Texas Master Plumber's license

Possession of, or the ability to obtain a Back-flow or Double-check valve inspection certification within six (6) months of employment.
