Insurance Verification Specialist

Texan Allergy is seeking a full time insurance verification specialist tell help our clinics communicate with insurance companies to verify benefits for our patients. The ideal candidate should excel under minimal supervision, be able to collect information from various insurance websites to estimate patient responsibility for scheduled services and have a warm personality that helps them communicate healthcare costs to our patients. Candidates should have a high attention to detail and solid organizational skills. This position will include a high volume of patient interaction via phone at our headquarters in Austin, TX.

  • Compensation is an hourly base plus an opportunity to earn bonus based on company goals after one year of employment.

  • The hours for the position are 8:30am-5:30 pm M-F with one half day a week.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities include:
  • Performs insurance benefits verification in accordance with company policy.
  • Performs pre-certification and obtains authorizations and referrals as required by payer guidelines
  • Follow-up on pending referrals, pre-certifications, and/or pre-determination.
  • Communicate referral/authorization and benefit information to the patient including estimated patient financial responsibility.
  • Provide payment options for patient out of pocket and set up payment plans as required.
  • Document calls with patients in practice management system.
  • Review demographic and insurance information in patient accounts and make necessary corrections.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of patient confidentiality to protect the patient and the clinic/corporation.
  • Support the billing department with other duties as required.
  • High school education or equivalent
  • 1-2 years of insurance verifications experience in the medical the field preferred
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Organizational skills.
  • Attention to detail and timelines
  • Ability to work well in a team dynamic as well as independently
  • Bilingual English/Spanish a Plus
  • CPT/ICD 10 coding knowledge a plus.
  • Knowledge of Commercial insurance, Medicare and Medicaid guidelines required
